Be Alert to Japan’s Strategic Intent on Diaoyu Islands Incident

Japan’s detention of a Chinese fishing boat in the waters off Diaoyu Islands and its conduction of a trial on the Chinese crew under its domestic law are both construed as an open confrontation against the Chinese sovereignty and territorial integrity. Japan took liberty to handle this incident in strict accordance with its domestic laws, which is never a reckless act but a deliberate plan to produce so-called judicial grounds for Japan’s sovereignty over Diaoyu Islands. China proactively responds to this incident and will never compromise and concede on its sovereignty issues. On the other hand, it also reminds the government and the people that continuous high alert shall be kept and that Japan’s conspiracy to occupy Diaoyu Islands must be seen through and calmly handled.
