US President Barack Obama emphasised in his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Annenberg Estate that the United States welcomes China’s peaceful rise and hopes to maintain a strong, cooperative relationship with China as equal partners. In response, Xi advocated that both countries should seek no conflicts and no confrontation, have respect for each other, and strive for win-win cooperation. Obviously, both sides are trying to respect each other’s rights and interests while pursuing their own, and show restraint in unilateral desires, so as to prevent a prisoner’s dilemma from developing.
