Outlook for Cross-straits Relations in the Next Four Years and Political Strategy

Mainland China should encourage the transformation of Taiwan’s Democratic Progressive Party (“DPP”), facilitate them to nurture a more rational attitude towards the Mainland and cultivate a growth of political moderates within the party. Pressure, exclusion, critiques and block-out might not be the best solution. Otherwise, cross-straits relation will again become turbulent once DPP comes into power, leaving negative influences to Beijing at the same time.
