The Opinions of Chinese Internet Users come to the U.S. Government’s Attention

Over the last two years, the U.S. Department of State has been contacting and interviewing famous Chinese internet users through a variety of channels, at a frequency which exceeds that of the past ten years. Since 2003, the term ‘Chinese internet users’ appears repeatedly in academic papers and think tank reports on China-U.S issues. This implies that Chinese internet users’ opinions come to the U.S. Government’s attention as they are gradually realizing the influence of internet users on the Chinese Government as apparently evidenced by the fact that the Chinese Government’s consideration of public opinions before formulating diplomatic policies and establishing military relationships. Both American think tanks and the U.S. Government have discovered that the significant benefits of timely information collection from Chinese internet users  before they make judgments.
