Tianda Institute 20th Anniversary Celebration
Policy Research Essay Competition
To commemorate its forthcoming twentieth anniversary, Tianda Institute is launching the Policy Research Competition for Hong Kong’s academic community. This Competition seeks to foster greater youth talent engagement in policy research and to deepen students’ understanding of research methodologies and strengthen their analytical capabilities.
The registration form comprises two sections. Applicants may participate individually or in teams and should secure one or more teaching staff from their school or institution to act as guiding instructors. By the submission deadline of 17 November 2025, they must complete both sections of the form and submit it together with a research proposal of at least 3,000 words (excluding charts and appendices), written in Chinese or English, either by email to trec@tiandainstitute.org or as a printed copy delivered to Tianda Institute, 24/F, CITIC Tower, 1 Tim Mei Avenue, Hong Kong.
To assist students in mastering the fundamental research skills, applicants may first complete Parts A and B of the application form and email them to Tianda Institute on or before 15 October 2025, enabling the Institute to arrange training for participants and their guiding instructors. Applicants must still submit their research proposal and the fully completed application form (Parts A and B) to Tianda Institute by the submission deadline.
All submitted papers will be evaluated by a Judging Panel of scholars, former government officials and legislators, who will select five finalists from each category to present their papers. The Final Assessment and announcement of results will take place on or before 15 (To be confirmed) December 2025. The Champion of each category will receive HK$5,000, and four Runners-Up prizes in each category will each receive HK$2,000. The two most outstanding papers—one from each category—will be published in Tianda Report.
If you have any questions regarding the above instructions, please contact Stevi Liu, Alex Sit or Nicole Liang at 3972 0623/ 3972 0643. All materials submitted by applicants will be kept strictly confidential and handled independently by designated staff to ensure the fairness of the Competition.
