On March 23, a donation ceremony by Tianda Group and Tianda Institute to Tsinghua University was held in the East Hall of Gong Zi Hall on Tsinghua’s campus. Professor Li Luming, President of Tsinghua University, and Fang Wenquan, Chairman of Tianda Group and Tianda Institute, attended the ceremony. Xu Qinghong, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Tsinghua University Committee, presided over the event.
In his speech, Chairman Fang Wenquan reflected on his long-standing gratitude and dedication to giving back to his alma mater over the years. He expressed his great pleasure in supporting the university’s emergency relief program for retired faculty and staff on the occasion of Tsinghua University’s 115th anniversary. This donation is special, touching, and profoundly meaningful, fully reflecting the university’s fine tradition of respecting teachers and valuing education, as well as its humanistic care for the elderly. He expressed the hope that this contribution would help carry forward the spirit of Tsinghua and provide a strong safety net for retired faculty and staff in times of major or sudden illness, thereby truly enabling them to enjoy a peaceful and happy retirement. Tianda Group and Tianda Institute are deeply honored to have the opportunity to contribute, even in a small way, to the health and well-being of Tsinghua’s retired educators.

On behalf of the university, President Li Luming expressed gratitude to alumnus Fang Wenquan, Tianda Group, and Tianda Institute for their generous donation. He remarked that Fang Wenquan, driven by a profound sense of gratitude and a commitment to giving back to his alma mater, has long cared for and supported the development of various undertakings at Tsinghua. The university places great emphasis on serving its retired faculty and staff. This donation, imbued with deep affection and friendship, vividly embodies the university motto “Self-Discipline and Social Commitment” and adds further humanistic warmth to Tsinghua’s new journey toward becoming a world-class university at the forefront. It will provide sustained support for the emergency relief program for retired faculty and staff, demonstrating tangible care for the older generation of Tsinghua members who devoted their lives to the university’s development, and ensuring that critical illness coverage and emergency assistance reach those in greatest need in a timely and targeted manner.
Wen Xinghuo, Director of the Office of Retirement Affairs at Tsinghua University, outlined the current situation of retired faculty and staff at the university. He stated that the office will continue to carry out its work with dedication and care, and will work with the Education Foundation to manage and utilize this donation effectively, ensuring that the emergency relief program truly serves as a strong and reliable safeguard for the retired faculty and staff.

Yuan Wei, General Secretary of Tsinghua University Education Foundation, and Gao Yin, Director of Tianda Group and Tianda Institute, signed the donation agreement. Li Luming presented a commemorative plaque to Fang Wenquan in recognition of the donation.
Representatives from Tsinghua University’s School of Social Sciences, School of Law, Office of Retirement Affairs, Education Foundation, and other relevant units, along with heads of relevant departments from Tianda Institute, attended the event.
