To facilitate accurate understanding and implementation of “one country, two systems” and upholding of the principle of “patriots administering Hong Kong”, Tianda Institute is holding a series of seminars that aim to nurture political talents to achieve these objectives.
The first round of seminars, themed “Understanding Elections and Understanding the Legislature”, is designed as a one-day seminar to cover areas such as Hong Kong’s election laws as well as the Legislature’s functions and daily operations. Participants will learn from former President of the Legislative Council, former Members and key staff of the Council Secretariat about the work of the Legislature, and from officers of the Community Relations Division of Independent Commission Against Corruption about election-related corrupt and illegal practices under the law. Conducted in Cantonese, this first round of seminars will be held daily from 10 to 14 November 2021, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Institute at CITIC Tower. The seminar will be free of charge. Any person interested may choose to join any one of these five sessions. Due to limited places, priority will be given to those who have registered as candidates for the upcoming Legislative Council election. Each may bring up to two nominated assistants to the seminar.
Seats are reserved online by completing the Reservation Form at http://bitly.ws/jbDL. Those who are assigned a place in the seminar will receive a confirmation email. To comply with the coronavirus disease prevention measures promulgated by the Hong Kong Government, seminar attendees must scan the designated “Leave Home Safe” QR codes upon arrival at the Institute and follow codes on disease prevention measures.
Tianda Institute, as a non-profit strategic studies think-tank, strives to explore new ideas and initiatives through extensive studies to tackle critical issues in China and globally. The first round of seminars aim to enable more persons with a vision to serve Hong Kong to be provided with good understanding of the true meaning of election and the responsibilities of a public officer as part of the efforts to nurture future political talents.
