At its preliminary development stage, China’s aircraft carrier will be more like a defensive aircraft carrier, which in nature is an extension of land-based aircraft protection zone. While its main mission is to provide air defense protection to naval vessels at certain area where land-based aircrafts cannot cover, defensive aircraft carrier is only empowered with limited combat forces.
